I believe that my short story, Inventor’s Dream, has completed the uses of imagination, technical uses, and using my dream.To say what I need to improve in is simple. I need to improve on dialogue, more details, and a more better ending.
The Inventor’s Dream
On February 29, 2120, was a weird day for me at the Military Industrial Center. I was working on some improvements on lighter equipment in the laboratory where the machines, robots, and weapons are stored. While I was working, I heard something fall. When I looked up, a wrench fell on my head. I was knocked out on the floor.
During that time, I fell into a trance. I saw myself as a little boy in 2017 going to school with my books. I believe I was in 3nd grade at the time. In the pile of books, I was me carrying my wonderful book of designs. “Hey look. It’s ‘Nerdy Manson’,” said one of the boys in my class. Yes, I saw myself being bullied as a young boy. Oh look, I see that girl that I liked from first grade till graduation sitting next to me. She was the love of my life. I see myself as a teenager. A handsome, strong, young, intelligent boy I was. I’m happy to see myself still in love with that girl, and that I still have that wonderful notebook of inventions.
Prom night was just around the corner. I can see myself planning to ask her out for prom night. I walked up to her, but I froze. I was a few seconds off to ask her out. Another boy asked her to prom, and he looked at me with disgust. I ran passed her crying to myself. She saw me and ran to see what was wrong. I threw the card and flower on the ground and kept running home. I saw myself as a broken hearted teenager crying there on his own bed. I heard the door bell ringing. I walked to the door and saw the girl I was going to ask out for prom. “I saw you running out of the school and you dropped these. I think the girl you wanted to ask to prom would have loved it,” she said. I replied, while holding my notebook,” Well, the card and flowers were um… for you, but it seems like you’re going to prom with someone else.” I started to close the door, but she stopped me and kissed me. I was in shock. “Yes, I will go to prom with you, Manson,” she said. That afternoon was the best time of my life. I graduated from high school and college as an Electronic Engineer Scientist. I was soon hired at the Military Industrial Center as a scientist to design, create and improve machines, robots, and weapons.
I woke up from the trance. I was on the ground with people surrounding me. I sat up. “Get my keys and jacket. I’m turning in early today,” I said. I went home and scrambled to my room to find that notebook. I found it under my pillow. I flipped through it just to see designs of robots, weapons, tanks, car, jetpacks, and other things that I have designed since I was a child. I can see that I was inspired by Leonardo da Vinci, Albert Einstein, and robotic animation. I kept flipping pages until I stumbled upon the number of the girl’s phone number. I dialed her number and called her. I heard her pickup. She said,” Hello, this is Ruby. Who is this?” I replied, “Hi, this is Manson. You know your boyfriend from high school?” I heard Ruby crying with joy to hear me again. We talked for hours. Then we decided to go out later on the weekend.
As we said our goodbyes, I went to sleep. The next day, I started driving back to work. Everyone saw me and was in shocked that I came back so soon. “Everyone, I need you to help me make all the designs in this book. I have been doubted on that I will never make any of these inventions, but today is a resolution of science!” Soon everyone came to help me out and started creating the designs I made in my notebook. Months later, all of my designs were complete. I also married Ruby. I’m so happy I kept having faith in myself and that I kept fighting to get to my goal with the help of others.
Favorite Authors
I like these authors because each one is unique. M.L. Forman (top right) made the book series ‘Adventures Wanted’ which is one of the top books I like to read. Homer (lower left) inspired me to like greek mythology even more. His book is called Odyssey. Leonardo da Vinci inspired me to design things that can be invented, but the problem is that we don’t have most of the material today or maybe we do have the material but cannot obtain them. I can still dream about inventing those inventions I have designed. Leonardo da Vinci book is his notebook.
Favorite Section of My Literature Book
My favorite section of my literature book is the “Drummer Boy of Shartin” because the boy is actually the person who controls the soldiers with his drum by calming the down or pumping the up for battle.
Favorite Genre
My favorite genres are Fictions which means a literature in the form of prose, esp. short stories and novels, that describes imaginaryevents and people, and Biographies which mean an account of someone’s life written by someone else. I like fiction because the stories are interesting and entertaining and biography because i get to learn a new about this person.
Favorite Literary Device
My favorite literary device is conflict because that is where the action and exiting things show up. Conflict means a serious disagreement or argument, typically a protracted one; Internal conflict- man v.s. himself; External conflict- man v.s. man, society, or a greater force. For example: Mason has conflict with other people about his inventions while growing up.
Favorite Books
These books are my favorite because they are adventurous, mysterious, and fun to read. They are ‘The Dragonology Book Series’, ‘Adventures Wanted Book Series’, ‘The Narnia Book Series’, ‘The Giver’, and ‘Homer Odyssey’.
